Broke and Bored
11:52 AMWhat to do when you have no money? Sick of watching tv, and eating because of boredom? I have complied a list of things to do for fun that don't require a single penny.
- Yoga - Whip out your yoga mat, or find an open space with a softer surface. Find a few websites with cool poses or go to the library and pick up some yoga books. (below are a few yoga related links)
- Volunteer- I volunteer at a non-profit in Minneapolis once a week. Giving back to the community is pretty gratifying. And I get free food out of it! There are a lot of non-profits out there in need of more volunteer. Craigslist, and even a simple Google search will provide volunteering opportunities. Also by asking around you might find a friend who would love to volunteer with you!
- Sell Stuff on Ebay- When I'm especially broke and bored, I will raid my closets from name brand clothes that will sell. I put the clothing on, snap a few pictures, and upload the post. Within a few days it will be sold, I'll ship it out, and get a few more dollars in my pocket.
- Read/ Studying- I know how horrifyingly boring it may sound, but there is a lot that can be learned from books. The library is crammed full of knowledge, waiting to be explored. Crack open a few books!
- Free Events- There are free community events if you search for them. Books stores sometimes have readings/ signings. local comedy clubs may have free open mic nights, etc. And if this event is something you actually enjoy, you might meet people who have similar interests in common!
- Accept Invitations- When someone invites you over, or out try to say yes. The more your willing to hang out, the more likely people will hit you up when they want to do something. New experiences and people should be welcomed into your life.
- Perfect Skills- Do you find yourself telling people you are too busy to be good a guitar? Or haven't had time to draw or paint lately? Utilize your free time doing things you love, rather than moping about things you aren't doing.
- Call your mother- Check in with family, let them know how your doing and inquire about how they are doing. Maybe your cousin needs help fixing his/her car, or your aunt needs help mowing her lawn. Strengthening bonds with family members is always worth the time.
- Create a blog! It's a great way to perfect writing skills, inform others, or even vent about current topics
Are there any things that you do that spare your wallet, and save you from the grasps of boredom?
